Twice now I have been led to three chapters in the Book of 2 Kings that highlights three distinct miracles. First, Elisha heals a man of leprosy and then gives another man the leprosy. Second, he makes an iron axhead float in the Jordan river, and third he prophesies that a siege that is set against the city will be lifted. And it was. It was lifted because God caused the enemy nation to hear the sound of horses and an army coming after them. They became fearful and ran away.
I could get into the intricacies of all of these miracles. Each one is packed with symbolism and promises of God, and I strongly encourage you to read them for yourself and ask God for revelation and wisdom as you read. What stood out to me as a point of connection for all three miracles was a theme of restoration.
Elisha restored the man’s physical body when God healed him of leprosy. The iron axhead was restored from the bottom of the Jordan after it was accidentally cast into river. The person to who was using the axhead was doubly worried because it was borrowed. Therefore in this restoration, he could continue his work and restore it back to the rightful owner. When the Lord caused the rival nation to hear the sound of an army coming, it allowed the siege to be lifted from the city. There was no more famine, lives were restored and the economy was balanced.
I am currently reflecting on all of these miracles together, in connection. I am strengthening myself in faith that God still works miracles. I am believing that God will restore my colon to perfect health, I am believing that I will return all that I have ever borrowed (debt free), and I am believing that my personal economy will be restored and balanced. I choose to believe.
