Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” This is one of my favorite scriptures that I must remember and repeat to myself daily. When I begin to feel any fear, disappointment, or uncertainty, I look at it as an opportunity to strengthen my faith. Faith refers to us putting all our trust and belief in God, no matter what the situation looks like. We must always put our faith in Jesus – through the good times and especially the difficult times. Every time we choose to walk by faith and not by sight, our faith becomes stronger and stronger.
Remember that God knows the beginning to the end and the end from the beginning. He does not have the same perspective that we do, which is why we must trust in Him and refrain from leaning on our own thoughts and opinions. Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your path straight.”
Trust requires us to let go and submit to God so that he can move and act on our behalf. God promises us that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and we know that God is faithful and unchanging. When we submit to our Father, we are also submitting to peace. The following are scriptures on building strong faith:
Mark 11:22-24
And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
1 Corinthians 2:5
That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Matthew 17:20
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Romans 12:3
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Ephesians 6:16
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
James 1:3
For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
