When Times Get Tough, Remember the Promises

If there is one thing I have learned through this pandemic, it is that some things are just out of my control. Not only am I not in control, but I realized that the plans I have are not always aligned with the plans God has. If I am being honest, it is a little frustrating knowing that what I think is best for me is not what God sees fit. However, God knows the beginning and the end, and His plans are not to harm me but only to prosper me. Knowing this, I pray daily and ask God that only His will be done.

I pray that only His will be done for not only me but my family and my community. I pray that only His will be done in both my personal and professional life. I pray that only His will be done regarding COVID-19 and the racial injustices in this country. I pray that only His will be done on what changes will take place with our new President and Vice President. I pray that no matter what the world may look like now, only His will be done. And it is so!

Trust in the Lord always and know that He has specific plans for you. Understand that what He has for you is something you could not even imagine. God absolutely knows what is best for us and we must pray that the steps we take are aligned with what he has in store for us. The following are some of the promises the Lord has made about his plans for us:

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Psalm 32:8

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

Psalm 37:23-24

The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Exodus 14:14

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
